February 2020
Welcome!
It's only 6 weeks until Zero Waste Sewing is out in the world!
This book has been a joy to write and produce, beginning from a seed sown here in 2016, over a year before The Dressmaker's Companion was published.
Zero Waste Sewing took about 15 solid months from sketches to holding a finished book in my hands. My family originally thought the book was called Zero Waist Sewing, bless them.
The most enjoyable part was designing the projects, and my favourite garment in the book is the coat shown below which is cut from a blanket.
A diverse and interesting (and fun!) group of women will review the book during March for the blog tour; read more about them here.
If you're in the Clare Valley area, Clare library is hosting a book launch (with fashion parade) on Tuesday March 17th, 7pm, and live streamed on facebook if you're too far away.
On the following Saturday morning there's an opportunity to try on any of the garments from the book at the Knit Spin Weave studio (5 Gleeson St).
Wild magazine in the UK has already reviewed Zero Waste Sewing and interviewed me on sustainability, fast fashion and (obviously) the book. Read it here.
